Afternoon Scrum 12/1/09

Hockey headlines for the CBJ and from around the league. Mmmmm... hockey

  • That was a nasty looking injury to Klesla last night. The team has said Rusty suffered both a torn groin and a torn stomach muscle, and that surgery is an option.
  • Jackets finally get a win. Finally close out a game (despite abdicating a two goal lead). Here are the recaps from the Dispatch and from the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
  • Here they come folks, Death and Taxes. Glad to see #8 and #22 back on the ice together. Let's hope being paired together again can get these two back to the level of play they showed us last year.
  • Caps All-World F Alexander Ovechkin may be looking at a suspension to go along with whatever injury he may have suffered as the result of his blatantly intentional knee-on-knee hit to Canes D Tim Gleaeson.
  • Bizarre incident in Miami where Panthers D Keith Ballard, in a moment of frustration, swung his stick at the goal post and accidentally hit G Thomas Vokoun.
  • So, the Blackhawks are a buzzsaw right now. Not only is tonight's game Chicago's first home game after a 5 game road trip (3-1-1) and being broadcast on national TV (Versus), but this will mark the home debut for Marian Hossa and the Hawks will be debuting a new third jersey. The United Center will be rockin' tonight. Bring your hard hat.
