Afternoon Scrum 12/2/09

Hockey headlines for the CBJ and from around the league. Mmmmm... hockey

  • Rusty Klesla will undergo surgery later this week to fix a torn stomach muscle and a torn groin muscle. I'm glad the decision was made to do the surgery. Last year the team took a wait-and-see approach to the torn groin suffered by Jason Chimera and the issue got dragged out longer than it should have. Puckrakers with the assist. Rusty was placed on the IR yesterday.
  • Last night's game was a doozie, eh? Yes the road point was nice, but if this team has any designs whatsoever on the post season then they have got to stop giving up leads. Last night marked the 7th consecutive game in which the CBJ have surrendered a lead. Jackets are 1-4-3 in that stretch. I have no link to accompany this thought.
  • Leafs G Jonas Gustavsson left last night's game against the Canadiens after one period with an elevated heart rate. The move is being billed as a precaution given Gustavsson's history of heart-related issues.
  • The Boston Bruins have inked C Marc Savard to a 7-year, 28.05 million dollar extension. The Boston Globe has the full story.
  • Got an email the other day from the good folks at Pondhockeymovie.com touting a special offer for their DVD. If you haven't seen this movie, click on the link and watch the trailer... if you have a drop of hockey in your blood you will want to see the whole thing. You may even be inspired to build a backyard rink. Offer code PHTHANKS will get you 5 bucks off. Tell 'em Top Shelf sent ya.
